About the Conference

The 1st International Conference and Scientific Exhibition on Living Materials Systems | Energy Autonomy – Adaptivity – Longevity – Societal Implicationsbrought together international researchers for an in-depth knowledge exchange with respect to living materials systems.

It was also dedicated to presenting possible technical applications as proof-of-concept demonstrators or prototypes. The conference will further address societal challenges related to sustainability, psychological impacts, and philosophical considerations, including acceptance and ethical approval of living materials systems.

The conference took place at the University of Freiburg, Germany, from March 21 to 24, 2023, as an on site only event. It was organized by the Cluster of Excellence Living, Adaptive and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS).
